Domaine Le Clos Du Bailey
Dating all the way back to 1779, Domaine Le Clos Du Bailey is set on 26 hectares of plots between the quaint villages Remoulins Saint-Hilaire d'Ozilhan and Fournèse. It also lies within perhaps the more commonly known AOP; Côtes du Rhône and the IGP Coteaux du Pont du Gard.
The site benefits from rich sunshine and mistral winds which help to regulate the temperature. The soil is rich and varied comprising clay-limestone and sand with rolled pebbles helping with water retention. In other words, a tip top terroir!
‘A family story’
At the heart of this vineyard lies passion, family tradition and dedication to quality wine. Now in it’s seventh generation of winemakers great attention to detail has been passed on throughout the years. From the winter pruning to the spring disbudding, meticulous care is taken at every stage.
All wine is vinified, stored and bottled on site and so it really feels as though you’re getting an authentic taste of the vineyard.
As tested by the experts!
We recently took a wine produced by this vineyard, the Red IGP, to the ‘Three Wine Men’ event hosted in London. Here one of THE Three Wine Men, Olly Smith (also known as Saturday Kitchens resident wine expert) described it in his own words as ‘ Vibrant as an electric cherry powered by a high voltage pomegranate’.
We currently stock five wines from this producer, all of which are delicious and great value, but don’t take our word for, go and check them out for yourself!
